Cook Wild Game Like Squirrel in 6 Ways

I have a very old cookbook typed up by Rubbermaid Employees (not dated, but probably done in the 1960's or 1970's according to the way cooking was mentioned. There is no instruction for microwave cooking anywhere in the 527 page book.) I figured Bukisa users may be looking for Wild Game Recipes, so I want to share the ones in this recipe book in case any Wild Game hunters out there happen to need some at some point. I personally don't eat Wild Game, but that doesn't stop me from sharing the recipes I have with someone who does. This recipe article is for cooking wild game like squirrel in 6 different ways. According to the recipe book, rabbit recipes also work for squirrel. See my note at the end on how to take the wild taste away. Have fun and Happy Cooking!

Step 1

RECIPE #1: FRIED SQUIRREL: Coat one 1 lb. to 1 1/2 lb. ready to cook young squirrel, cut up, with mixture of 1/4 C all purpose flour, 3/4 t. salt and dash of pepper. In skillet, brown meat in 2 T. hot shortening. Reduce heat; add 2 or 3 T. water. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or till tender, adding more water if necessary. Serves two.

Step 2

RECIPE #2: FRIED SQUIRREL: Dip pieces into flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Brown in hot fat. Reduce heat and cook until tender about 1 hour. If the rabbit or squirrel is old or of uncertain age, add a small amount of hot water. cover tightly and cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Step 3

RECIPE #3: STEWED SQUIRREL: Soak 10 - 12 pieces of squirrel meat in 2 T. salt and water for 2 - 3 hours. Drain and dry. Saute' meat in 2 t. oil, 2 strips diced bacon, 1 chopped onion, 1 clove minced garlic in skillet until well browned, about 30 minutes. Add 2 T. parsley, 1 C dry red wine, 1/2 bay leaf, and salt & pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat until tender, about 30 more minutes.

Step 4

RECIPE #4: BARBEQUED SQUIRRELS: Soak several squirrel halves in vinegar and water overnight. Place squirrel halves on grill after coals are hot or oven broil at 500 degrees. Baste with uncooked sauce several times. To make sauce: combine 2 C catsup, 1/4 C mustard, 2 T. diced onion, 2 t. salt, 1/4 C mayonnaise, 1/4 C worcestershire sauce, 2 T. garlic salt, and 2 t. pepper. Turn frequently until well done.

Step 5

RECIPE #5: SQUIRREL PIE: Soak 1 or 2 dressed squirrels in salt water overnight. Rinse and put in pan; cover with fresh water. Add 1 chopped onion and salt & pepper to taste. cook until tender. When cool, remove meat from bones. cut into small pieces. Thicken pan drippings with flour. Add beef broth to make a gravy. Add 1 C cooked diced celery, 1 C cooked diced carrots, 1 C cooked diced potatoes, 1 can mushrooms, and meat. Pour into unbaked pie shell and top with a circle of crust. Sprinkle with onion salt. Make some slits in tope. Bake until golden brown about 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Step 6

RECIPE #6: SQUIRREL POT PIE: Clean and cut up 2 to 3 young squirrels. Soak 4 to 6 hours or overnight in salt water. Rinse off and put into heavy sauce pan. Boil in salt water for five minutes. Rinse again. boil meat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until it is tender. Save the broth. Bone meat and set aside. Mix some flour and milk together and add to boiling broth to make a medium white sauce. Add meat, a small chopped onion, and mixed vegetables to white sauce and mix. Add salt and pepper to taste. Line a 10" pie pan with crust. Pour in meat filling and cover wth top crust. Bake in 350 degree oven until crust is browned about 1 hour.

NOTE: One submitter tells how to take the wild taste away: Use 1 T. vinegar. Parboil meat 15 - 20 minutes in water. Remove from heat. Rinse in warm water. This takes the wild taste away. Prepare as other steaks or roasts.

Meatball Escarole Soup

Ingredients:

lb. extra lean ground beef

6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

6 tablespoons plain bread crumbs

cup freshly chopped parsley

teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

2 eggs, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 large onions, finely chopped

2 carrots, peeling and sliced

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

8 cups packed shredded escarole, rinsed and drained

3 cans (14 oz each) low-sodium chicken broth

Step one- Combine beef, 4 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, parsley, salt, pepper and eggs in a large bowl. Form into 24 meatballs, using about 1 level tablespoon for each.

Step two- Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and cook on each side until nicely browned. Transfer meatballs to a plate.

Step three- add the remaining tablespoon of the oil to the pot with the onions, carrots and garlic. Cook for 10 minutes or until vegetables are soft. Stir in escarole and cook for 3 minutes.

Step four- Add meatballs and broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve soup with remaining Parmesan cheese on top.

This recipe makes 6 servings and has 205 calories per serving.

How To Maintain Your Weight Loss

After losing 100 lbs myself, changing my life style, making changes not only on the outside but on the inside too, I have been maintaining my weight loss. Many people lose the weight they need to but then gain it back. The number one reason for this is that they don't make their weight loss journey a life style change. This is more than just something you do for awhile until you meet your goal, it has to be changes you make in your every day life. Tell yourself you are doing this for your health, so you can be around for your loved ones. Your health is the most important reason to make this a life style change.

Make exercise a part of your daily routine. Even if it is just walking every day. Get up and move your body. Our bodies were meant to be in motion. Also counter act that by getting enough sleep. Not getting enough sleep can cause stress and cause you to over-eat.

Eat all the healthy foods you ate during your weight loss, look up new healthy recipes, add these to your meals. Drink plenty of water, stick to your healthy choices.

I feel it's okay to treat yourself once in awhile. Have that piece of cake or pie you love, or something that is appealing to you, just don't over do it. Everything in moderation.

You can maintain your weight loss by sticking to your game plan. Don't let others around you get you off track. Remember you did this for your health and ultimately you are responsible for you, no one else. Take time for yourself, eat healthy, exercise, get enough sleep, de-stress your life, and you will maintain your weight loss.

1.) Still cook the foods you love just make them healthier. To stick with a new diet for the long term, youll have to enjoy the foods that you eat. If you take foods that you already enjoy, make them healthier while keeping that same great taste, then you are more likely to stick with the diet. Make your recipes healthier by reducing the fat, calorie, and carbohydrate count. Some examples include substituting olive oil for butter or fattier oils, use cornstarch for thickening rather than flour or potatoes, and eliminate rice, enjoying your soup or stew without it.

2.) Portion control weight loss is all about consuming fewer calories. You must control how much you eat in order to lose weight. To control the portions you eat, use a smaller plate, and stay within the bounds of that plate for a given meal. Try using a salad plate rather than a dinner plate. Limit the amount of protein you eat at each meal to about 5 to 8 oz. For leaner proteins like fish, you can go up to the 8 oz, for fattier proteins like beef, stick closer to 5 oz.

4.) Balance the amount of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins you consume at each meal. Stick to around 33% protein, 60% carbohydrates, and around 15% fat for each of your meals. Research has shown that your body responds best to this balance in your diet.

5.) Eat small meals throughout the day (about every 2.5 to 3 hours) Eating throughout the day will boost your metabolism and keep you from getting hungry. By eating throughout the day your blood sugar levels will remain fairly constant, resulting in fewer hunger pains.

6.) Increase your level of Activity. Notice I didnt say exercise; some people are allergic to it. The important thing is to get moving, whether it is running, walking, gardening, mowing the lawn, or playing ball with your kids. Just get moving!

7.) Its ok to lose weight slowly, actually preferable. Your body will get used to the weight loss and your metabolism will adjust to it as you go. Resist the temptation of the hype over quick weight loss. Yes you can starve yourself and drop a quick 10 to 15 pounds, but if youre after permanent weight loss, its better to take it slower.

8.) Give yourself a day off from your healthy diet once in a while. Every few weeks its ok to take a day off from being healthy. If youre at a barbecue with friends have a few beers and the baby back ribs . Youre in it for the long haul, so a day off now and again wont hurt you. It will actually give you a psychological boost and help to keep you on the right track. Just make sure you get right back to it the next day.

9.) Limit or eliminate your alcohol intake. Your body will use the energy from the alcohol before it starts dipping into the calories from the food that you consumed. So basically it will prevent you from losing weight. While you are trying to lose weight, try to eliminate your alcohol intake, for exceptions see number 8. While you are just maintaining then a glass of wine or a low carb beer would be ok.

10.) Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water. Your body needs fluids to properly function, especially while losing weight, so drink as often as you can. You should limit or eliminate carbonated beverages, even diet sodas. I also find that hot coffee or tea suppresses appetite for a while. In fact, often when you feel hungry you are just dehydrated, and drinking some water will help with your hunger.

Cook Wild Game Like Squirrel in 6 Ways

I have a very old cookbook typed up by Rubbermaid Employees (not dated, but probably done in the 1960's or 1970's according to the way cooking was mentioned. There is no instruction for microwave cooking anywhere in the 527 page book.) I figured Bukisa users may be looking for Wild Game Recipes, so I want to share the ones in this recipe book in case any Wild Game hunters out there happen to need some at some point. I personally don't eat Wild Game, but that doesn't stop me from sharing the recipes I have with someone who does. This recipe article is for cooking wild game like squirrel in 6 different ways. According to the recipe book, rabbit recipes also work for squirrel. See my note at the end on how to take the wild taste away. Have fun and Happy Cooking!

Step 1

RECIPE #1: FRIED SQUIRREL: Coat one 1 lb. to 1 1/2 lb. ready to cook young squirrel, cut up, with mixture of 1/4 C all purpose flour, 3/4 t. salt and dash of pepper. In skillet, brown meat in 2 T. hot shortening. Reduce heat; add 2 or 3 T. water. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or till tender, adding more water if necessary. Serves two.

Step 2

RECIPE #2: FRIED SQUIRREL: Dip pieces into flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Brown in hot fat. Reduce heat and cook until tender about 1 hour. If the rabbit or squirrel is old or of uncertain age, add a small amount of hot water. cover tightly and cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Step 3

RECIPE #3: STEWED SQUIRREL: Soak 10 - 12 pieces of squirrel meat in 2 T. salt and water for 2 - 3 hours. Drain and dry. Saute' meat in 2 t. oil, 2 strips diced bacon, 1 chopped onion, 1 clove minced garlic in skillet until well browned, about 30 minutes. Add 2 T. parsley, 1 C dry red wine, 1/2 bay leaf, and salt & pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat until tender, about 30 more minutes.

Step 4

RECIPE #4: BARBEQUED SQUIRRELS: Soak several squirrel halves in vinegar and water overnight. Place squirrel halves on grill after coals are hot or oven broil at 500 degrees. Baste with uncooked sauce several times. To make sauce: combine 2 C catsup, 1/4 C mustard, 2 T. diced onion, 2 t. salt, 1/4 C mayonnaise, 1/4 C worcestershire sauce, 2 T. garlic salt, and 2 t. pepper. Turn frequently until well done.

Step 5

RECIPE #5: SQUIRREL PIE: Soak 1 or 2 dressed squirrels in salt water overnight. Rinse and put in pan; cover with fresh water. Add 1 chopped onion and salt & pepper to taste. cook until tender. When cool, remove meat from bones. cut into small pieces. Thicken pan drippings with flour. Add beef broth to make a gravy. Add 1 C cooked diced celery, 1 C cooked diced carrots, 1 C cooked diced potatoes, 1 can mushrooms, and meat. Pour into unbaked pie shell and top with a circle of crust. Sprinkle with onion salt. Make some slits in tope. Bake until golden brown about 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Step 6

RECIPE #6: SQUIRREL POT PIE: Clean and cut up 2 to 3 young squirrels. Soak 4 to 6 hours or overnight in salt water. Rinse off and put into heavy sauce pan. Boil in salt water for five minutes. Rinse again. boil meat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until it is tender. Save the broth. Bone meat and set aside. Mix some flour and milk together and add to boiling broth to make a medium white sauce. Add meat, a small chopped onion, and mixed vegetables to white sauce and mix. Add salt and pepper to taste. Line a 10" pie pan with crust. Pour in meat filling and cover wth top crust. Bake in 350 degree oven until crust is browned about 1 hour.

NOTE: One submitter tells how to take the wild taste away: Use 1 T. vinegar. Parboil meat 15 - 20 minutes in water. Remove from heat. Rinse in warm water. This takes the wild taste away. Prepare as other steaks or roasts.

Cook Wild Game Like Rabbit in 12 Ways

I have a very old cookbook typed up by Rubbermaid Employees (not dated, but probably done in the 1960's or 1970's according to the way cooking was mentioned. There is no instruction for microwave cooking anywhere in the 527 page book.) I figured Bukisa users may be looking for Wild Game Recipes, so I want to share the ones in this recipe book in case any Wild Game hunters out there happen to need some at some point. I personally don't eat Wild Game, but that doesn't stop me from sharing the recipes I have with someone who does. This recipe article is for cooking wild game like rabbit in 12 different ways. See my note for taking the wild taste out. According to the recipe book, squirrel meat recipes also work for rabbit. Havefun and Happy Cooking!

Step 1

RECIPE #1: FRIED RABBIT: Coat one 1 lb. to 1 1/2 lb. ready to cook young rabbit, cut up, with mixture of 1/4 C all purpose flour, 3/4 t. salt and dash of pepper. In skillet, brown meat in 2 T. hot shortening. Reduce heat; add 2 or 3 T. water. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or till tender, adding more water if necessary. Serves two.

Step 2

RECIPE #2: FRIED RABBIT: Dip pieces into flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Brown in hot fat. Reduce heat and cook until tender about 1 hour. If the rabbit is old or of uncertain age, add a small amount of hot water. Cover tightly and cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Step 3

RECIPE #3: STEWED RABBIT: Soak 10 - 12 pieces of rabbit meat in 2 T. salt and water for 2 - 3 hours. Drain and dry. Saut' meat in 2 t. oil, 2 strips diced bacon, 1 chopped onion, 1 clove minced garlic in skillet until well browned, about 30 minutes. Add 2 T. parsley, 1 C dry red wine, 1/2 bay leaf, and salt & pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat until tender, about 30 more minutes.

Step 4

RECIPE #4: BAKED RABBIT: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in casserole dish large enough to hold 1 cut up rabbit in a single layer and place in oven to melt 1/2 stick of butter first. Mix together 1/3 C fine dry bread crumbs, 1/8 t. black pepper, 1 T dry parsley flakes, 1/2 t. ground rosemary, 1/2 t. and dry mustard. Roll rabbit pieces in melted butter and then coat with bread crumb mixture. Add 1/2 C orange juice to remaining butter in dish, then arrange rabbit pieces in the dish and cover with foil. Bake 45 minutes. Remove from oven; turn rabbit over carefully and cover again. Return to oven for another 45 to 60 minutes, until tender. Place rabbit under broiler for 5 minutes before serving to crisp and brown the crust. Serves three.

Step 5

RECIPE #5: SMOTHERED RABBIT WITH ONIONS: Clean one rabbit and cut into pieces. Dredge with seasoned flour. Saute; in 3 T. of butter until brown. Cover thickly with sliced onions; cover with 1 C sour cream. Bake in oven in tightly covered roaster one hour or until done at 300 degrees.

Step 6

RECIPE #6: RABBIT SOUP: In kettle, put 2 stalks of chopped celery, 1 large chopped onion, 4 sliced carrots, 1 1/2 t. salt, pepper, scant t. lemon rind, pinch of Mace, 2 C water, and rabbit meat. cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or till meat is tender. Remove rabbit and separate meat from bones; cut into bite size portions. Bring soup to a boil, add rabbit meat and 1 C uncooked wide noodles. Simmer uncovered, about 7 to 10 minutes. Stir in 2 T minced parsley and ladle into bowls.

Step 7

RECIPE #7: RABBIT: Disjoint 1 young rabbit. Brown in 2 T. bacon drippings in a heavy skillet. dissolve 1 beef or chicken boullion cube in 1 C boiling water and add to rabbit. Add 1/4 C lemon juice, 1 small can mushrooms, 1 chopped green pepper, 1/4 t. ginger, and 2 T. minced parsley. cover and cook until meat is tender. Add salt if needed.

Step 8

RECIPE #8: SOUTHERN FRIED RABBIT: Parboil one or two rabbits until tender. Cool. Salt and pepper rabbit. Dip in four. In a deep iron skillet, heat bacon drippings (about 1/2 inch deep) place rabbit pieces in hot drippings. Brown on both sides. Remove pieces. Add about 4 T. flour to drippings and brown. Add enough milk to thicken. Makes a creamy gravy. Good over mashed potatoes and biscuits.

Step 9

RECIPE #9: HASENPFEFFER (RABBIT STEW): Mix 3 C water, 1 C vinegar, 1 medium chopped onion, 1/2 C sugar, 2 t. salt, 1/4 t. pepper, and 1 t. mixed pickling spices. Add cut up rabbit. Refrigerate 2 days. Remove meat from marinade, reserving one cup. Dry rabbit. Coat rabbit with 2 T flour. Brown meat in 2 T. hot shortening; slowly add marinade. cover; simmer 45 to 60 minutes or till tender (add water if necessary). Remove meat. Thicken liquid fro gravy if desired. Serves 2 or 3.

Step 10

RECIPE #10: JUGGED COTTONTAIL: Place a layer of cut dressed rabbit pieces in bottom of casserole. Season with salt and pepper, a pinch of thyme, a pinch of savory salt, 1/4 t. celery seed, 1/4 t. parsley flakes, pinch of ground cloves, and 1 bay leaf. Cover with a layer of bacon strips. Add second layer of rabbit pieces, season as before and cover with strips of bacon. Add 1 C water. Cover casserole and bake 2 hours at 350 degrees or until tender. May add mushrooms if desired.

Step 11

RECIPE #11: BAKED JUICY SWAMP RABBIT: Season rabbit well with Creole seasoning (salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, tabasco sauce) or plain salt and pepper. Dip in flour and fry in margarine until brown. Add 1 finely chopped onion, 1 chopped bell pepper, 2 sticks chopped celery, and 4 cloves minced garlic. Cook until tender. Add 1 T. worcestershire sauce, 1 can tomato paste, and enough water to cook rabbit until tender and still have a nice thick gravy. Serves 4.

Step 12

RECIPE #12: WILD RABBIT: Clean and cut up 2 dressed rabbits and let soak in salt water overnight. Roll in flour and brown in skillet. Add salt, pepper and Morton's Nature Seasonings to taste. Transfer rabbit to dutch oven and add 1 C chopped onion, 1/2 C mild semi-hot peppers, and 1/2 C water. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours.

NOTE: One submitter says, Use 1 T. vinegar in water. Parboil rabbit meat 15 - 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Rinse in warm water. This takes the wild taste away. Prepare as other steaks or roasts.

The next step in reading the cooking recipe is to identify the list of ingredients. All recipes have a list of ingredients, which is usually formatted as a bulleted list.

Chinese Unique Recipes : Bear Paw

In ancient chinese, bear paws are often used as ingredients to make soups,stocks or other dishes. just see how to make a simple recipe out of it.

this is how to make bears paw with hot sesame sauce :

(A)1 processed bears paw ,1/2 spring onion , 5 slices ginger , i onion,shredded , 1 stick of celery,shredded, 1 teaspoon garlic , adequate amount of xanthoxylum seeds , 1 length carrot ,shredded , 1 bay leaf

(B) 15 grams of green peppers and carrot , 30g of celery ; 1 teaspoon of xanthoxylum seeds , adequate amount of ginger shreds and onion shreds , adequate amount of bittern , 1 small bowl hot sesame sauce , 1/2 tablespoon of red wine

1. soak the bears paw in water for about 2 days to clean it and remove the dirt from its pores (make sure you remove the hair from the paws after soaking it), and then dip it to the red wine after soaked for 2 days.

2. bring the (B) ingredients to boil , and boil them over a mild heat for about 6 hours ; after that take the bears paw and boil it with the (B) ingredients for a half a day

3. add the red wine to the (B) ingredients and boil it for an hour, after that pull the bones out of the bears paw

4.bring the bittern to boil , put the bear paw after removing the bones and stew it for aprroximately 45 minutes and sprinkle it with sesame oil . cool it and and then freeze it in the refrigerator ; then slice it

5. cook the sliced (A) ingredients , season them , lay them on the rim of a plate . and then arrange the sliced bears paw in it and put ginger & onion shreds on top and pour the hot sesame sauce over the bears paw slices for serving

The advertising for these toners leaves out many important pieces of information because most commercial toners contain harsh ingredients and toxins that can irritate skin and sometimes make acne worse. You will need the following containers and implements to make this facial toner recipe: one medium sized mixing bowl capable of holding three cups of liquid; measuring cup; small bottle (with a cap) capable of holding 18 ounces of liquid; one funnel; one tablespoon and either a manual or an automatic juicer.

The following ingredients are needed to make this facial toner recipe: one and three quarters of one cup (14 ounces) of Saki Japanese rice wine; one small lemon and one small orange

Begin making this recipe by pouring 14 ounces of Saki Japanese rice wine into the mixing bowl. The Saki in this facial toner recipe will help detoxify your skin because the rice naturally pulls dirt and impurities from your skin. Legend has it that Japanese geishas have long use Saki as a beauty remedy; they reportedly bathe in the wine to maintain their legendary radiant beauty. After completing the first step, use either a manual or an electric juicer to squeeze the juice from one small lemon. If you do not have a juicer, you can slice the lemon and squeeze the juice from each slice. Strain out any pulp or seeds that made their way into the juice and then add one ounce of the juice to the mixing bowl. The lemon juice will boost the cleansing power of the facial toner because lemon juice is naturally astringent. It also has vitamin C, which will give your skin a healthy glow.

Make a cup of hot herbal tea. Remove the tea bag, add water until theres 8 ounces of tea and boil the tea. Put the boiling cup of herbal tea in the blender before adding the grated bar of soap. Then you will have herbal liquid soap.

Essential Oils

Add one teaspoon of an essential oil blend to the mixture after you add several cups of water.

Moisturizing Soap

While blending the soap add a Tablespoon of coconut oil, shea butter or cocoa butter for a moisturizing liquid soap.
